Local Eigenvalue Density for General MANOVA Matrices

چکیده
We consider random n× n matrices of the form (XX∗ + Y Y ∗)− 1 2 Y Y ∗ (XX∗ + Y Y ∗)− 1 2 , where X and Y have independent entries with zero mean and variance one. These matrices are the natural generalization of the Gaussian case, which are known as MANOVA matrices and which have joint eigenvalue density given by the third classical ensemble, the Jacobi ensemble. We show that, away from the spectral edge, the eigenvalue density converges to the limiting density of the Jacobi ensemble even on the shortest possible scales of order 1/n (up to log n factors). This result is the analogue of the local Wigner semicircle law and the local Marchenko-Pastur law for general MANOVA matrices. AMS Subject Classification: 15B52, 62H86

On the nonnegative inverse eigenvalue problem of traditional matrices
In this paper, at first for a given set of real or complex numbers $sigma$ with nonnegative summation, we introduce some special conditions that with them there is no nonnegative tridiagonal matrix in which $sigma$ is its spectrum. In continue we present some conditions for existence such nonnegative tridiagonal matrices.
متن کاملThe Beta-MANOVA Ensemble with General Covariance
We find the joint generalized singular value distribution and largest generalized singular value distributions of the β-MANOVA ensemble with positive diagonal covariance, which is general. This has been done for the continuous β > 0 case for identity covariance (in eigenvalue form), and by setting the covariance to I in our model we get another version. For the diagonal covariance case, it has ...
متن کاملThere is more than one way to skin a G matrix.
Because of its importance in directing evolutionary trajectories, there has been considerable interest in comparing variation among genetic variance-covariance (G) matrices. Numerous statistical approaches have been suggested but no general analysis of the relationship among these methods has previously been published. In this study, we used data from a half-sib experiment and simulations to ex...
متن کاملEigenvalue Separation in Some Random Matrix Models
The eigenvalue density for members of the Gaussian orthogonal and unitary ensembles follows the Wigner semi-circle law. If the Gaussian entries are all shifted by a constant amount c/(2N)1/2, where N is the size of the matrix, in the large N limit a single eigenvalue will separate from the support of the Wigner semi-circle provided c > 1. In this study, using an asymptotic analysis of the secul...
متن کاملA mathematically simple method based on denition for computing eigenvalues, generalized eigenvalues and quadratic eigenvalues of matrices
In this paper, a fundamentally new method, based on the denition, is introduced for numerical computation of eigenvalues, generalized eigenvalues and quadratic eigenvalues of matrices. Some examples are provided to show the accuracy and reliability of the proposed method. It is shown that the proposed method gives other sequences than that of existing methods but they still are convergent to th...
